RHA® Revance vs Juvéderm Fillers

Allergan’s Juvederm® and Galderma’s Restylane® filler lines are well-known for diminishing static wrinkles and augmenting facial features, but the U.S. has recently seen the introduction of a new filler: RHA® Revance. How do these fresh fillers stack up against the typical hyaluronic acid-based gels? Let’s briefly explore the commonalities and distinctions between conventional filler varieties and the new RHA® fillers available at the Body Bar Medical in Corona, CA.

Formula: Let’s dive into what makes RHA® fillers special! Like their predecessors such as Juvederm®, they are primarily made of hyaluronic acid. But here’s the interesting part: RHA® is crafted with fewer chemical tweaks and preservatives. This means the hyaluronic acid in RHA® is purer and more closely resembles the natural hyaluronic acid in our bodies. Pretty neat, right?

Uses: Remember when the go-to solution for dynamic wrinkles (those caused by facial expressions) was neuromodulator injections? Well, there’s something new on the block! RHA® Revance fillers are the first of their kind, approved by the FDA, specifically for tackling these dynamic wrinkles and folds. This sets them apart from products like Juvederm®, which target static wrinkles resulting from collagen loss and aging. RHA® is usually applied to the central and lower face areas, smoothing out moderate to severe wrinkles around the nose, lips, and mouth, while also enhancing facial contours. It’s a versatile option for a fresh, youthful look!

Results: What’s amazing about RHA® is how it blends in seamlessly with your facial movements, whether you’re chatting away or flashing a smile. This adaptability makes it look more natural compared to other fillers that might stay put in one place. Another bonus? RHA® fillers have a bit of a staying power! They typically last around 15 months because of their unique formulation, which is a bit longer than other hyaluronic acid fillers. While they don’t outlast Juvederm’s Vycross fillers like Voluma® and Vollure®, they still offer a durable, elegant solution for enhancing your natural beauty.

How Long Do They Last:  RHA® is expected to last up to 12 months while Juvéderm is expected to last up to 18 months.  However, results will vary per individual.  Some individuals will require touch-ups sooners than the 12 months for both brands.

Which options should you go with? Our injectors have nothing but good things to say about RHA by Revance.  It is a newer brand and not readily available everywhere, but we expect that to change in the upcoming years.  As RHA becomes more available, we expect most medical spas to shift towards this brand due them being more affordable and providing results as great as Juvederm.

We find RHA to be comparable to Juvederm and would recommend this for all nose fillers.  The price point simply cannot be beat and the end results are the same, if not better. However, if you typically use Juvederm and like to stay consistent with brands across other fillers on your face, then Juvederm may be a good option.
